Suggestions

  • • About 400–700 ml concentrate. Dilute for juice, or use thicker as syrup.

Drink Pairings

  • • soft-drink: Sparkling water with a splash of concentrate.

Side Pairings

  • • Pancakes.

Dessert Pairings

  • • Oat porridge.

Storage

Fresh

  • • Duration: 7 days
  • • Temperature: 5°C
  • • Method: Keep refrigerated in clean, closed bottles for about 1 week. Cool quickly after cooking. Not intended for room temperature without proper preserving.

Frozen

  • • Duration: 6 months
  • • Temperature: -18°C
  • • Method: Freeze in small portions for 3–6 months. Thaw in the refrigerator.

Reheating

  • • Stovetop: Warm syrup gently if it has thickened in the fridge.

Tips

Preparation

  • • Sweet apples make the reduction milder. Tart apples often need more sugar.

Cooking

  • • Watch the pot while reducing — it speeds up as the volume shrinks.

Serving

  • • Label the bottle with the dilution ratio you ended up liking.

Variations

Flavor

  • A cinnamon stick in the slow cooker adds a mild spiced note. Remove it before reducing if you prefer a cleaner apple flavour.

Health

  • Start at the lower end of the sugar range (150 g) and taste as you reduce.

Method

  • If you already have mild apple juice: skip the slow cooker step and reduce 1.5 litres of juice with sugar and lemon until it reaches the strength you want.
