Pancake batter
- about 0.8 cup wheat flour
- about 0.8 cup milk
- 2 stk eggs
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 knsp salt
- 1 tbsp butter or oil for frying
Instructions

Mix campfire pancake batter
- Whisk flour, milk, eggs, sugar and salt into a smooth, pourable batter – the same pancake batter you would bring to the fire. Thin enough to run on the pan, but not watery.
- Mix the batter at home and pour it into a clean bottle or jug with a screw lid – campfire pancake batter ready without mixing in ash.

Warm the pan over embers
- Set the pan over embers – not in the middle of the flames. Add fat and wait until it sizzles lightly.

Cook thin layers and flip once
- Pour a thin layer of batter onto the pan – tilt so it spreads. Too-thick batter burns at the edge before the center is done over a fire.
- Cook until the underside is golden, flip once, and remove. Hold the pan farther from the embers if the crust darkens too fast.

Tips
Preparation
- • Campfire pancake batter: mix at home, bring in a bottle. Shake before each pancake – flour settles.
- • Add 1–2 tbsp extra flour in the bottle if the batter thins during transport.
Cooking
- • Embers give more control than flames. Move the pan if one side browns too fast.
- • Grease between each pancake – outdoor pans dry faster than at home.
Serving
- • Serve straight from the pan with jam or sugar – campfire pancakes are shared food, not plated courses.
