- 0.9 oz yeast
- about 0.1 oz saffron
- about 0.6 cup sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1.8 lb wheat flour
- 1 stk egg
- 3.5 oz raisins

Instructions

Melt the butter and warm the milk
- Melt the butter in a pot and add the milk.
- Heat until the mixture is lukewarm.

Bring the dough together
- Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm milk mixture.
- Add the saffron, sugar, salt and egg.
- Knead in the flour a little at a time until the dough is soft and pliable.

Let the dough rise
- Cover the dough and let it rise about 1 hour, until doubled.

Shape the buns
- Divide the dough into 12 pieces.
- Roll each piece into a rope and shape into an S.
- Press raisins into each end.

- Let the buns rise covered for about 30 minutes.

Bake in the oven
- Brush the buns with beaten egg.
- Bake at 200°C for 10–12 minutes, until golden.
