Creamy homemade refried beans with pinto beans, onion and cumin. The classic Mexican side dish that belongs in every taco spread.

Refried beans
- 2 stk cans pinto beans (400 g each), drained
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 stk onion, finely diced
- 2 fed garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- about 0.4 cup water or broth
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions

Sauté onion and garlic
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté onion for 3-4 minutes until soft.
- Add garlic and cumin, cook for 30 seconds.

Mash the beans
- Add the drained beans and water/broth. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Mash the beans with a potato masher or fork to desired consistency. Simmer for another 5-10 minutes until creamy and thick.
- Season with salt and serve immediately.
